A technical foundation for connected living
At Chronicle Erfurt, the former TA high-rise, connected living starts with electrical design. We developed a Loxone-based smart home concept and defined the technical requirements for equipping individual apartments at a later stage.
The focus was on lighting, shading and room climate. The design addressed cabling, controllers in the apartment distribution board and operation using wall switches and an app. For individually designed apartments, we prepared electrical drawings and cable schedules as a basis for a coordinated installation.
The challenge
Smart home readiness from the outset
The electrical infrastructure needed to support a later Loxone installation. Cable routes, cable types, connection points and space in the apartment distribution board therefore had to be coordinated with the automation concept at an early stage.
Designing functions as one system
Lighting, motorised shading and heating circuits require different inputs and outputs. At the same time, the concept needed to provide intuitive wall controls and a shared interface on a smartphone or tablet. Individual specifications had to fit into this technical foundation.
Technical design
Cabling and distribution board design
Our design contributions covered connection and cabling requirements for smart home readiness. For individually designed apartments, electrical drawings and cable schedules were prepared and the required Loxone components identified.
Lighting, shading and room control
The concept provided for switched lighting and selected power outlets, control of motorised shutters or blinds, and individual heating circuit control. Room temperatures, schedules and comfort or absence periods were taken into account in the functional design.
