A technical foundation for phased development

For Weimarer Marienhöhe, we developed a Loxone concept for the phased development of several existing buildings and their outdoor areas. The design needed to provide a clear technical structure for the first phase while allowing for further uses and expansion.

Our work covered selection of control components, electrical and cable planning, and wiring and terminal diagrams. The Loxone hardware was specified and supplied. The focus is on a modular technical infrastructure for the planned automation functions.

01

The challenge

Planning several phases together
The buildings were to be developed in stages. The concept therefore provided for a connected, decentralised control infrastructure with distribution boards and capacity for future functions. The design also needed to accommodate changes to the electrical installation.

Preparing buildings and outdoor areas
The concept covered indoor and outdoor lighting, heating functions, irrigation with cistern monitoring and audio. Cable routes, power supplies and networking were intended to connect these areas. Interfaces for heat generation, photovoltaics and storage technology needed to be considered early in the energy integration design.

Technical design

Electrical design and distribution boards
Loxone components for the first phase were specified and revised against updated electrical drawings. Wiring and terminal diagrams brought the control connections together. Distribution board sizing accounted for equipment including the Miniserver, Air connectivity, audio and power supplies.

Modular infrastructure
The concept provided for a loop-shaped utility route with branching points. Control and network cabling, together with spare capacity, were intended to support later expansion. Components for the planned construction phases were specified and supplied, with the functional design structured around phased development.
