The houseboat
Hamburg · Design & system integration
Building technology on the water
For the houseboat project by Olli Schulz and Fynn Kliemann, we worked on the electrical and control infrastructure for use on the water. Our scope included electrical, wiring and distribution board design, together with contributions to the configuration and connection of different components.
Loxone provided the higher-level platform for lighting, temperature sensing and heating circuit integration. Network and Wi-Fi equipment complemented the installation. Camera surveillance covering the entire houseboat and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) extended the technical setup. The UPS keeps connected equipment running if the external power supply fails.
The challenge
Coordinating different technologies
Lighting, temperature sensing and heating circuit connections needed a shared Loxone foundation. Wired sensors, lighting actuators and the central controller had to be coordinated.
Considering connectivity and power supply
Alongside camera surveillance of the entire houseboat, connected equipment needed to keep operating during interruptions to the external power supply. Network, Wi-Fi and UPS equipment complemented the control infrastructure. Electrical drawings, cable schedules and wiring documents were aligned with the actual installation and updated as it changed.
Technical contributions
Loxone for lighting and room climate
Lighting was integrated into the Loxone configuration and linked to the appropriate switching functions. 1-Wire sensors provided temperature readings. Heating circuit actuators were wired, tested for movement and assigned to rooms in the configuration.
Camera surveillance and UPS
A camera system provides surveillance coverage of the entire houseboat. The UPS bridges interruptions to the external power supply and keeps connected equipment running. Network and Wi-Fi connections link the distributed components. Electrical, wiring and distribution board drawings, together with equipment lists, documented the technical structure.
