400 m² villa
Thuringia · Connected living
Bringing lighting, climate and shading together
In this approximately 400 m² villa with a pool and garden house, different parts of the building technology were connected using Loxone. The focus is on shared operation of lighting, shading and room climate, together with the integration of several technical interfaces.
DALI connects selected luminaires to the lighting controls, Modbus RTU provides access to ventilation components, and the Schüco interface integrates motorised window elements. An audio server with stereo extensions adds multiple audio zones. The programming brings these functions together in a shared user interface.
The challenge
Coordinating several building systems
Lighting, room temperature, shading and ventilation needed to be brought into a coherent user interface. This required coordination of different interfaces, electrical connections and the assignment of heating circuits.
Aligning automation and user control
Functions needed to be accessible through wall controls and an app. Lighting scenes, room climate and automatic shading require coordinated settings. Motorised window elements and ventilation airflow control also had to fit into the overall technical concept, alongside the audio zones.
Technical implementation
Loxone, DALI and Schüco
Heating circuits and actuators were incorporated into room climate control, shading drives were assigned, and Schüco elements were integrated through the element bus. DALI luminaires were addressed, grouped and assigned to lighting scenes. Replacement outdoor DALI luminaires were also commissioned again and integrated into the existing controls.
Modbus ventilation and audio
The ventilation airflow controllers are accessed via Modbus RTU. This interface supports airflow setpoints and the reading of available operating values. The audio server and stereo extensions were set up, with speaker zones configured and tested.
