This project with Pranke-Plitt Möbelbau focuses on digitally retrofitting two existing doors. The solution combines tedee Lock PRO HomeKit, suitable adapters for the existing lock cylinders and tedee Bridges. Our technical contribution is the selection and combination of compatible components, connecting the mechanical interface with network-enabled operation.
The challenge
Two doors needed a digital locking function. Retrofitting an integrated motorised lock was not part of the solution; the requirement was for a surface-mounted system compatible with the existing doors and cylinders.
The cylinder, adapter and electric drive must work together mechanically. The required digital controls also need to match the selected lock version.
The task therefore covers both the mechanical interface at the existing cylinder and the additional connectivity. Together, these form the basis of a suitable retrofit solution.
Technical solution
The component selection for the two doors comprises tedee Lock PRO HomeKit, one tedee Bridge per lock and tedee/GERDA adapters for existing cylinders. The adapter provides the mechanical connection between the existing cylinder and the surface-mounted drive.
The Bridge connects the smart lock via Bluetooth to the local Wi-Fi network. It supplements direct operation near the lock with the option of remote access through the tedee platform. The selected PRO HomeKit version also supports Apple Home.
Our contribution centres on combining suitable devices and adapters. This treats the mechanical retrofit and the available digital control options as one coordinated technical solution.
