Existing systems. New insights.
At ZENTRALHEIZE in Erfurt’s former heating plant, cunnect connects the existing Honeywell CentraLine building management system to a shared plant overview. BACnet/IP brings data from heating and cooling generation, thermally activated building structures and fan-coil units into Loxone. Visualisation and Grafana time series reveal operating states and relationships, providing a basis for step-by-step optimisation of the existing systems.
The challenge
The existing building management system connects different plant systems and areas of use. A meaningful overview requires measurements and states to be assigned clearly to their technical functions.
The focus is heating and cooling generation, thermally activated building structures, fan-coil units and ventilation. Individual readings alone often provide an incomplete picture: time-series trends reveal how temperatures and equipment states interact.
Plant visualisation and time-series data provide two complementary perspectives – the current equipment state and its development during operation.
Our approach
Honeywell CentraLine is connected to Loxone through BACnet/IP and cunnect.bridge. Structured data-point assignments provide the basis for shared plant views and the display of relevant measurements.
In addition, cunnect.metrics records operating data. Grafana dashboards show temperature trends and equipment states over time. Outdoor temperature provides an important reference for interpreting heating and cooling behaviour.
Current states and longer-term plant behaviour can therefore be considered together. Unusual patterns and relationships become easier to understand, providing a data foundation for diagnostics, maintenance and the assessment of potential improvements.
